Match report NMJFC Under 11s girls - 6/11/21

New Mills Juniors u11 Girls Vs Marple Athletic

As coaches today we were looking for the passing and making options that’d they smashed in training lately but with pressure from the off from Marple it was a real scrum of a game.

Positives from today for me would be they got back to defend when needed and kept momentum up throughout the whole game.

It was looking like there weren’t going to be any balls in the back of the net but with a well struck half volley from Nayia with ten minutes to go we were away & putting a smile on everyone’s face with the ten-pin bowling strike celebration! Funny kids.

Starting midfield with Brooke & Phoebe this morning they sure had to work hard and were both determined to find our up-front girls Jaz & Ava. Both Ava & Jaz seeking out many opportunities through a tough defensive side and were so strong for their team today despite the challenges from the physically bigger opposition! Super work.

Clean sheet for the first half with lily keeping one out of the net with a hard ball to the face, all the team making sure she was ok, you were very brave to carry on. Nice sportsmanship from Marple who also checked she was ok – fair play!

Last ten minutes of the first half and we very much dominated Marple enabling Phoebe to smash another in which she worked for the whole half, never giving up, awesome job.

By no means easy for them today but a change around in half time , Phoebe coming back to defend and Jay desperate to get on the scoresheet so taking a more midfield push they again moved the ball forward and some through balls enabled Jaz to pelt one in through a crowded box.

One very close shot from Jay, couple shots from way out the area from Freya L but denied by Marple defenders.

Good energy second half, great to see as we usually struggle to keep our heads up – very proud of you all for that. Ava taking some shoves today which made her fiercely determined to show Marple what she was made off and ticked off a couple more goals for her team after some great skills and confidence on the ball.

Mention to Lily in her defensive position in second half for keeping her cool, looking up to find her options and easily getting round her marker, taking your time, and making good choices was great to see. They held it together today for a great result. Keep working hard and trusting each other.

For her absolute hard work in both positions and resilience our girl of the match today goes to Phoebe, well done. #yesgirls #upthemillers
