The wind was up and the rain was pouring down at Glossopdale for this morning's encounter with Chapel Town Yellows. All credit to the parents of this fine squad - every single one of them turned up so with 9 players to pick from for a 5-A-Side match, we knew there would have to be a lot of rotation to keep the kids warm (and interested).
NM Blacks came firing out and got stuck in straight away. We knew from our last match that when you play a Chapel team you need to win the tackles and be quick on the ball and that is exactly how we executed this plan.
Frankie & Finley at the back didn't give them a second on the ball and with Oliver B and Albie making brilliant runs up-front, we suddenly found space and the goals followed. Boom, Boom - Frankie scores and within minutes of his first, he's at it again.
Chapel never roll-over, they came straight back at us and clawed a goal back.
Almost on the half-time whistle, Albie finds himself clean through on goal and a brilliant finish restores NM Blacks cushion going into the 2nd Half.
The weather got even worse and NM Blacks really had to dig in to see this game out.
Ollie M & Jacob showed their grit and even after Chapel scored a well worked goal, they both continued to dominate the opposition throughout the final period.
Frankie had been celebrating his birthday this weekend but there were no signs of tiredness as he bagged himself another.
Then it was Oliver B's turn to get on the scoresheet with a well deserved goal after he'd ran himself into the ground once again for his team.
The icing on the cake was when the team worked a fantastic counter-attack and Frankie topped off the day for NM Blacks with a fortunate goal from distance that skidded along the wet surface.
Fantastic courage shown in abysmal conditions.

The conditions were terrible but both kept their concentration throughout and made some absolutely fantastic saves.
