Match report NMJFC Under 8s Hornets - 02/10/22

Another one of those amazing mornings at Glossopdale where there was only one winner - NMJFC! The kids from both teams were awesome.

For the first time this season (At U8’s level) – It was Derby-Day NM Hornets V NM Bees. These events are always the greatest games for the coaching team because we get to see how much every single one of them is progressing and they done us proud again. The Derbyshire FA were doing their bit to promote ‘Play Safe Weekend’ and presented the team with a special ‘Captains arm-band’ which Oliver B received on behalf of The Hornets for his ‘Player of the Match’ Hat-Trick performance last week. Only in grassroots football would that same player then offer to go in nets for the first-half of a Derby! Tremendous Oliver B.

The Hornets got off to great start and although it felt a bit more tense than normal, we stuck with the game plan and the rewards followed. Finley ⚽️ & Frankie ⚽️ were enjoying themselves & both managed registered early goals. These two lads play at the back so I wasn’t surprised as we witnessed Albie & Ronan stamping their authority on the game. Albie was everywhere and Ronan was playing those magnificent left-foot crosses and both Albie ⚽️ & Frankie ⚽️ managed to convert.

Some absolutely superb football was being displayed but it was like playing against a brick wall at times. This morning the oppositions goal was being occupied by Stanley who deserves a special mention as he was incredible! Save after save, Stan The Man was producing the most incredible stops!

As a team, we are actively practicing a specific style that involves trying to get the ball up the field whilst including the involvement from every single player in our squad. There were numerous times in both halves when this happened and it was incredible to see how the kids have taken onboard these instructions. Even better, we watched the players do their upmost to ensure every member of the team got shots on goal. Oliver L was unlucky today but showed his skills. It’s like he’s always been here – he fits in just perfectly and we are looking forward to watching him flourish in this team. Jessica was great again. She is now poised, following every instructions impeccably and enjoying more game time now than ever before. Keep going Jessica.

Second Half – Ronan took the gloves. Another solid performance from our Rocket 🚀 who unselfishly allowed other members of the team to take the lime-light this weekend. A true team player he was even setting-up the attacks from within his own box – Well done Ronan!

The Hornets were getting some traction now and began to produce some top quality football. Ollie Makin had become ‘The Conductor’ of his own orchestra and was involved in absolutely everything. He was pulling the strings from midfield and creating opportunities that previously, have gone unnoticed. Unlucky not to score himself, he continued setting-up chances - perfectly finished by Oliver B ⚽️ & Frankie ⚽️ and then chasing back with some last-ditch tackles. Ollie was everywhere but most importantly he was ‘Makin’ all the goals. Outstanding Ollie M.

A sneeky 'Beckham Esque' corner crept in to top off Frankie's day ⚽️

When the final whistle was blown both teams could be proud of another New Mills classic derby match! The highlight for me had to be Leo’s goal celebration . . . . Fabulous!

Player of the Match – Ollie M. Absolutely outstanding 💥

Next week we don’t have a game. Enjoy the rest because after that it’s Derby-Day again!! Bring on The Wasps 🐝
