The chat before the game might have been about who had put their Christmas tree up, but the Yellows were ready for their game against Chapel Town Yellows U11’s, the same opponents as last week.
With some forced changes to the team, the Yellows took a bit of time to get going this week. Although their positioning and energy was there, they weren’t seeing much of the ball, which led to some early pressure. As the first half went on though, the Yellows started to get into the game. Henry and Bertie made some excellent tackles in defence and started to play some great forward passes into the midfield. Nathan, Oscar and Robbie were also putting their mark on the game with some brilliant passing and forward runs from midfield.
As we moved into the second half, the game opened up, with the Yellows creating a lot more chances. Fletcher, Angus and Riley all winning some excellent duels to set the tempo of the half. The Yellows finished this game on the front foot, with loads of energy and playing for each other right until the final whistle.
🏆 Lucas was our well deserved player of the match winner today. Answering the call and stepping up as our goalkeeper, he made a number of excellent saves and showed his bravery when coming for the ball.
⚽️⚽️ Leo’s finishing is improving all the time and his two goals today were brilliant examples of this.
⚽️ Jack’s finish today was an example of how cleanly he can hit the ball with his left foot. A nice reward for a great second half performance when he moved up into midfield.
⚽️ Sami’s goal was an excellent finish - a real strikers goal, being in the right place at the right time. Just the reward for him too after another great performance.
The effort and energy from the whole team was fantastic today - never giving up and working hard for each other as always. Big shout out to the parents and spectators too for their continuous, positive support - and the loudest cheers when the Yellows score.
Roll on next week!
