NMJFC U7's V Buxton Young Bucks Whites - 10/09/23

What a morning for the newest crop of Mini-Millers to begin their football journey. It was red-hot at Glossopdale and the kids were very excited, a little nervous and extremely keen to play their first league match in The High Peak Junior District League.

New Mills were up against a strong Buxton team and the boys got a great start with a couple of early goals from Finley💥 💥

The opposition were very good and they came straight back at us..... It was a very even match-up.

Reuben took the responsibility of going in goal first. He was ace! Good saves and lot's of concentration kept the Young Bucks at bay. Second half, he played outfield and listened to every instruction and really got involved with some good passing.

Max is our rock at the back! You're going to have to be good to get past this lad but ability on the ball makes him a modern centre-half. He was solid and built a safe foundation for our other players to be able to attack.

Ned 'All Rounder' and never gives you anything less than 100%. He's excellent in defence and doesn't shy away from the big tackles. He even ended up in nets where he was brilliant.

Aiden is going to be our goal-keeper and he stepped up to the mark and showed a new level of confidence. This lad is going to fly this season and I know, every week, if he tries that hard, he's going to have the best time!

Ryan joined the team very recently but you wouldn't have known it. He slotted straight in and was up against his old mates! He was very good and unlucky not to get on the score-sheet. That left-foot of his is going to do some damage this season.

Myles is our silky, smooth, skillful midfielder. He didn't let the nerves get the better of him and made some unbelievable passes to set up the attacks. Tracking back and never giving up.

Teddy worked his socks off running up & down that wing trying to create some magic. Buxton had some good players but Ted went at them, time after time. He also worked back and helped out in defence.

Then we have Mr Goals - Finley found the back of the net a couple of times but more impressive for me, was the way he came back and defended to protect the lead we had. Pure desire!

An incredible start for The Mini-Millers. It didn't all go our way, but that is what you will learn with team-sport..... It's how you respond!

Next up, Chapel Town Colts..... I can't wait!
