Match Report NMJFC U10s - 10/01/26
The U10’s kicked off 2026 with their first game of the year against Didsbury Phoenix Maroons on a very frosty afternoon at Stockport Sports Village. The boys were without Charlie J, who unfortunately broke his toe over the Christmas break, and will be out for a few more weeks but he still made the effort to come down and cheer on his teammates from the sidelines. The U10’s started brightly, but after no more than 10 minutes Dylan was forced off through injury. The luck wasn’t
Match Report NMJFC U7s vs Bollington U7s - 20/11/25
A damp morning at Reddish set the scene for a competitive encounter between NMJ U7s and Bollington. Both sides arrived eager to play, and right from kick-off it was clear this would be a close, hard-fought game with some excellent football on show. Joseph took the gloves for the first half and immediately impressed, showing great composure as he dealt with early pressure. In midfield and attack, Henry, Alfred, Tobias and Angus worked tirelessly to link play, chase down l

Match Report Salford lads U14s v NMJFC U14s - 30/11/25
The Millers put in a fantastic performance today and came up a little short of getting to the next round of the County Cup. The Millers started brightly and created several good chances, with both Greeny and Bertie going close to opening the scoring early on. The Millers restricted the opposing team to shots from distance, which Archie handled confidently, before distributing quickly to set up several good counterattacks. Alfie and Daniel handled the central threat well, whil

Match Report NMJFC U Sandra Crowe Cup KO cup Semi-Final: New Mills Scorpions U11 v Futtymania U11 - 30/11/25
Earliest possible start for the cup semi final this morning….. matched with temperatures of minus 2 degrees in New Mills ….. a lot of cars needed to be defrosted. This was a big game against an opponent we’re becoming very familiar with…. They’re a great team and we always have a chat with their coach before and after games. A delayed kick off due to the frost meant slightly shorter halves. As coaches we asked for…. No, demanded, some fire from the Scorpions today🔥 and every

Match Report NMJFC U11 Girls vs West Didsbury and Chorlton AFC U11s Nightha 29/11/25
Despite the rain, and the girls not being at full strength this week, but from the first whistle the girls played with determination and spirit. Annabella set the tone from the back, starting confidently in goal with sharp saves, decisive movement off her line, and calm distribution that turned defence into early attacking opportunities. Stevie patrolled the left side with maturity beyond her years, showing excellent control and threading clever passes into the middle. She pu

Sandra Crowe KO Cup - NMJFC U11 Hornets V Wythenshawe Wanderers Wasps - 29/11/25
A place in Quarter-Finals was at stake as we matched-up against yet another Wythenshawe team. The Wasps are familiar to us and we knew it would be a tough match so prepared well. Each Hornet was required to win their individual battles and the objective was to keep the ball wide and to play it on the floor. All the Wythenshawe teams seem to be tall so the focus was to keep the ball wide and away from what proved to be a very congested centre-midfield. First of all, it was tim

NMJFC U11 Hornets V Adswood United - 22/11/25
Youth football is all about learning & improving. The result doesn't matter they say, and this is completely true. Sometimes though, it doesn't feel like that...... particularly in the heat of battle! Mid Afternoon kick-off on Saturday, under the floodlights again but this time at a totally new venue for us. The Mike Doyle Centre awaited us and the first thing we noticed was the size of the massive pitch. This suits us down to the ground and allows the boys to play more expans

NMJFC U9's V Whaley Bridge - 23/11/25 - Season 3 - Episode 11 - We're back at Macc!
"If you can keep your head when all around you are losing theirs and blaming it on you, If you can trust yourself when others doubt you but make allowance for their doubting too!" - Rudyard Kipling It was great to be 'Back At Macc' on Sunday morning in a hyper competitive game between two teams that go all out against each other and this fixture has produced some of the best games we have seen at such a young level. The Mini-Millers were missing their Goalie. Reuben was celeb

Match report u14s Girls Vs Richmond Rovers away - 23/11/25
If ever there was a game that made us really proud, today was it. They were all connected as a team and dominated as one. Our new player Lily went out for her first game with us today. Players stepped into different positions and played with 100% effort and commitment which shows versatility. With a player away this week, Ruby was tasked as right back and went fully in, pressed high, anticipated the opposition’s pass, and got in front of the player to intercept & keep the bal

MATCH REPORT NMJU10’s 22nd November NMJ U10s vs Whaley Bridge Blue
Today the U10’s were up against Whaley Bridge Blue for our local derby at Stockport Academy. The Millers started strongly, with the midfield trio of Teddy, Charlie J and Stanley taking early control of the game. Stanley came close within minutes, rattling the crossbar with a brilliant effort. The pressure continued, and it was Stanley who eventually broke the deadlock with a tidy strike from the left. The Millers kept a high line throughout the first half, allowing the defend

The first of a double header for the Vipers coming up against Buxton Purple this week before Buxton Green in the cup next week. The Vipers were depleted this week with Jude, Kingsley and Thomas unable to play but the remaining six would play the full game and put in an awesome performance. Captain this week would be Kit, who would take the gloves for the first half with Logan taking his turn in the second. Leo would play centre back, Alistair on the right with Elliott on t

Match Report NMJFC U7s - 22/11/25
So after having to make a sub every 17 seconds last week, we only had 5 players today, so all 5 played the entire game. Louie started in goal, with Henry, Seb, Ollie and Joseph on the pitch. The first half started with the opposition a player down, something their coach didn't seem to worried about, and it was quite clear why soon after starting. The opposition this week were incredibly strong, through later conversations with the coach it turned out they trained twice a wee

Match Report NMJFC U11 Girls vs Bollington United U11s Capybaras 22/11/25
Ava set the tone early with a confident start in goal, making a number of strong stops and, just as impressively, distributed the ball with composure, finding midfielders cleanly and helping the team build from the back. It was a controlled, mature performance that gave everyone a boost from the first whistle. Just ahead of her, Stevie took on a new defensive role with determination. Still learning the position, she held onto the ball well under pressure and made several impo

Match Report – 15th November 25 – New Mills Vipers U8s vs Inter Cheadle East U8s.
A new week and a new game for the New Mills Vipers to sink their teeth into. This week again the full squad would be present for the game against Inter Cheadle on silent weekend, where supporters applaud rather than shout to the children. This week we wanted the team to work on moving the ball across the field using the passing we have been working on in training. Elliott was captain and would take the gloves for the second half as well. What proceeded was a great game of

It was a chilly day at the Mike Doyle centre for this week's fixture against Bowden Athletic FC Blues. There were nine NMJFC U7's available this week, as there has for most of the season so far. Credit to the kids and the parents for their commitment! A quick chat with referee & the Bowden coach, and it was agreed to play 6v6 to give all the kids more game time, less of them waiting on side lines. Louie was our volunteer for goalkeeper in the first half, and with the low temp

Match report NMJFC U11 Hornets V Wythenshawe Wanderers - 15 / 11 / 2025
Saturday afternoon under the floodlights at Benchill (in Wythenshawe) was a great way to get back to the league campaign after we were on 'Cup Duty' against Bollie Bears then 'Friendly Duty' against High Lane over the last two-weeks. As Coaches, we were hoping the lads could carry their recent uprise in form into this game against a Wythenshawe side that quite simply blew The Hornets to smithereens on the opening day of this season! Much has been made of the slow start to th

Match report New Mills U11 Scorpions v Chinley U11 - 16/11/25
Again a familiar opponent in Chinley, we knew what to expect and started brightly. It was silent support weekend, so as coaches we said very little throughout the game (well, we tried to) and let the team encourage and direct each other. The game was end to end to begin with, a shot from Leo and equally at the other end a save from Frankie the cat….. seemed like rinse and repeat with another Leo shot and another excellent save from Frankie. Good pressure from New Mills saw o

NMJFC Hornets U11 V Bollington United Bears - Sandra Crowe KO Cup - 01/11/25
"We're going for the cup" was the cry from the coaches after a somewhat indifferent start to the season for our lads. They got off to a flyer when our Rocket slotted home an early penalty after Albie had been ambushed by the Bollington defence. Rocket was at it again with a perfect strike from distance. Our maestro kept the play alive then shifted the ball perfectly to Ronan who hit it first time and the ball nestled nicely in the back of the net. Ronan looked superb in the

They rose to the challenge brilliantly, communicating with confidence and showing impressive teamwork from start to finish. We started today’s match with Poppy D in goal. She was nervous, but you wouldn’t have known it –her composure was outstanding. She pulled off a string of excellent saves, including a superb
